This stunner is the epitome of true American Muscle.Multiple World of Wheels ISCA award winner. Power steering, power brakes, redline tires are optional equipment for this little beast.Painted in the legendary Red, White and Blue color scheme, with a fully functional snorkel hood scoop. Says the seller: “It is not concours, just a nice car, otherwise I would ask $65,000 for it.” Some have actually fetched that much, but this one is a bit less original thanks to the nicely modded engine–not that it makes it any less cool or desirable.FRIDAY NIGHT! 1968 AMC RAMBLER SCRAMBLER HURST EDITION 4 SPEED 390 SHOW CARġ968 AMC Rambler-ScramblerAbsolutely stunning reproduction of the super rare Rambler Scrambler Hurst EditionRotisserie restored, powered by a 390 engine and shifted via a 4-speed transmission. What should be a Twin-Grip limited slip rear end currently runs a stock 3.54 ratio, although a 4.10 is also available from the seller. Offy valve covers are nice dress-up items, and the seller still has the stock intake and air cleaner. Good for a 14.3 second quarter mile right out of the box, the 390 should offer quite a bit more power thanks to a hotter camshaft, headers, and dual quads pictured with a custom ram-air setup. Check out the Hurst T-handle shifter’s wild bend and floor mounted fire extinguisher. This period ad lists all the car’s features for go-fast and appearance purposes, including the red white & blue headrests visible in exterior photos. ![]() From what we can see, it seems to live up to the seller’s description. Shown with a carpeted cover in place, the dash top is described as being in very good condition along with the rest of the interior. Stock wheels (that should be painted blue) are among available items, along with trim rings and center caps. Some additional history on the model can be found here. The unsubtle air flow direction arrow proudly displays the engine’s displacement, and along with AIR lettering on the scoop lends the nose quite a distinct and interesting look. Somewhat typical of AMC products, the SC-specific hood scoop looks like an afterthought, but don’t get us wrong–we’re big fans of the defunct Kenosha company and their cars. Paint quality looks good and the body is claimed to be solid. This car wears the “A” paint scheme–a blue stripe on top and red billboards on the sides, with the reportedly rarer “B” scheme visible here. Two different paint schemes were offered, both white with blue and red stripes. Ramblers like this one featuring the SC package were co-built by Hurst, and as the seller nites, only 1,512 were built. Find it here on Craigslist in Abilene, Texas for $35,500. Offered due to it rarely being driven, the car does look like a nice example despite a small selection of photos. Some stock parts are mentioned as available, though it’s unclear if they’re included in place of or in addition to those installed. The seller also believes it may have been resprayed, though markings, colors and decals look on point. This 1969 AMC SC/Rambler is labeled as an unrestored driver, though the already hot 390 has been upgraded.
